I mapped out a great 18 mile route along the bike paths in Boulder. The best part was that after 11 miles, I could pop in and say hi to D at his office. This helped so much because it broke the run up in many ways. First leg=11 miles. Easy. Second leg=7 miles. Super easy. With a 15 minute break to stop and stretch and refuel in between. (It still counts as 18 miles, even with a break, right?)
Then I saw a sign like this:
(These are definitely not my pictures. I was not about to whip out my phone as I ran away).
Then I made it to D's office and the first thing I said was "a coyote crossed my path!" He said when he told his boss where I was coming from, she responded with "She better be careful, there are coyotes bothering runners there." Yes on the coyote, but luckily no on the bothering runners.
I came home and read a bunch of scary stories about recent coyote-runner and cyclist interactions along the Boulder Creek Path right where I was. As weird as it was, it definitely made my run much more exciting!
