Finally back to New Jersey! Today Kermit the Car ended his epic road trip. It started in CO when D drove Kermit to Pittsburgh. Then D, Lemon, Shrek, and I drove south, stopping in Columbia, MD, Rocky Mount, NC, and Savannah before reaching Amelia Island, FL. Then we drove through the South, hitting Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas before reaching Colorado.
Then, Lemon and I sadly left D and Shrek in Colorado and drove Kermit to Pittsburgh where we stopped for a day for my cousin's baby shower. This morning I packed up Kermit and made it back to NJ with Lemon. What a trip. Today there were exciting football games on the radio for me to listen to. I am definitely NOT a fan of any of the teams left, but I still watch/listen.

| Here is the crew just a few short weeks ago in Florida. The dogs were clearly excited to smile for the camera. |
As sad as I am to be by myself again, this is where I am to focus on all the stuff I need to do. Also, as much as I need to unpack, organize, put the final touches on my syllabi, etc., I have to admit I am super excited to get back to my good running routes in the neighborhood. But I will prioritize other things first and get to a nice, solid run tomorrow afternoon after a productive day of organizing. Then back to work on Tuesday.
Hope everyone had an excellent long weekend filled with races, football, and other sports-related activities!
Hey--you passed through my turf (Columbia)! Long road trips are so much fun and you hit some great spots along the way. Good luck getting back to a routine!
ReplyDeleteIs that a greyhound, btw? I have a whippet (14 yrs old now).
Cool-I love Columbia, MD! My aunt and uncle and cousins live there, so we visit at least once a year. Very cool town for kids to grow up in with great running trails (my college-aged cousins ran cross-country in high school there).
DeleteYes, Lemon is a retired greyhound who is 5. Sometimes she acts like she is 12 (taking her retirement very seriously) and other times she acts like she is still a puppy and zooms around the yard. Mostly, she is a big goof.
That's some serious driving - welcome home!!
ReplyDeleteI laughed everytime you said Kermit - suits so perfectly :D
