Hello! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Mine was fabulous. It feels amazing to be back in Colorado and to have the opportunity to take a few hours out of the day on a Saturday to get a great workout in, see amazing views, and catch up with friends (while trying not to freeze). We spent Saturday morning hiking and snowshoeing in the mountains above Boulder (started at about 10,000 ft above sea level). We hiked up to a lake for about 2.5 miles, then went on for another 1.5 to get to another lake. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) we did not need the snowshoes too much as much of the snow was packed down enough for good traction. We carried the snowshoes most of the way on our backs. It was cold and windy at the lakes, but aside from my hands, I dressed just right and did not get too hot or too cold.
The dogs were really excited to play in the snow. They tried to eat our food as well.
The views were gorgeous and the sun shining made it feel like the perfect day to be in the high mountains. My friend's dog Kiko says hello!
Altogether it was about 7+ mile hike (we took a shortcut on the way down, as we were cold and dreaming about food). I then spent the rest of the weekend vegging on the couch, hitting up the big town of Denver for an amazing night on Saturday, doing a short treadmill run on Sunday, and more football.
Plus, cooking. Lots of cooking. All of the food may be the topic of my next post. Stay tuned...In the meantime, Happy Monday!

So cool! It sounds like you have an amazing vacation. Keep on enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty out there! We have had some good weather this week, but it can't compete with the mountains!
ReplyDeleteHi, just came across your blog from RER.
ReplyDeleteI Love to snowshoe, we usually head up to VT for a weekend of serious shoeing. Otherwise, just around our local trails with the dogs when we can.
Looks like it was a beautiful hike!

Thanks for stopping by! VT is gorgeous for hiking and skiing and snowshoeing. I love it there.
Deleteahhh that's just sooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI snowshoe'd ONCE when I was much younger - I was terrible at it. It is hard!! lol
They make special "running snowshoes" which are smaller and supposedly make it more easy to run. I tried them once and I just sank into the snow! Luckily the trail was pretty compact this weekend :)
DeleteWow so beautiful! It just looks stunning!!! And those dogs are so cute, I miss having a dog so much.
