Anyone remember my close encounter with a coyote on a long run in Boulder last month? Well, I am happy to report that my biggest wildlife encounter now that I am back in New Jersey is geese, mainly dodging the geese poop that is left all over the paths I run on. But I digress.
Last night a friend sent me this article to update me on the coyote situation on the creek path in Boulder. Apparently, the coyotes are still there on the same section of the path. And now, a feast of burritos has been found and is assumed to have been left for the coyotes. The Coyote caution signs have been amended to remind people it is illegal to feed wildlife.

I won't get into my rant about feeding wildlife (we all know it is bad, right?). It made me mad (why waste perfectly good burritos? and endangering runners!) but also amused. Of all weird things that occur in Boulder (there are a LOT), feeding coyotes on a bike/running path is so random.
Have I mentioned that a big, huge, stuffed black bean burrito with hot salsa and plenty of sour cream and cheese is my go-to food of indulgence after a long run or marathon? After I completed the Beijing marathon in 2009, I made my friends carry me to get on the subway with me to go to the part of town where there were a total of two Mexican restaurants (a luxury in the land of Peking Duck).
What is your favorite post-run indulgence?
I am already dreaming of amazing Texan BBQ I can get after the Austin Marathon (ten days!), but I am sure I will fit a in there some time, too.

Yummmmmm burritos.... man that sounds good. Maybe that's what I should do for dinner...? Anyway! That's crazy - that of all things people would decide to do, someone(s) left burritos for coyotes. Talk about random!
ReplyDeleteI gotta say pizza - though, I don't always wait until after a race. Sometimes pizza is just easy!
ReplyDeleteYES! I don't really eat much pizza these days ( I out played that food in university) but, I love it post-run!
DeleteAhh, that burrito looks really good... how dare anyone waste those on coyotes (not to mention the idiocy that is feeding wild animals)!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in New York, my go-to post-run indulgence was a salt bagel with scallion cream cheese (or lox cream cheese, depending on which place I went to). SO GOOD. These days delis are few and far between (Alaska), so I usually just go for eggs and toast.
That is a random thing to do. And exactly what I thought when I started reading it, who feeds coyotes burritos on a running trail!?! Haha. My husband is the biggest burrito fiend! He could probably eat one everyday for the rest if his life and love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your choice of a burrito - I haven't eaten one in WAY too long.
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine the panic I'd be under if I saw a coyote in my running path. That is just seriously scary!!
Oooo have a blast! Mexican food is my fave... tostadas, gorditas, burritos - oh my!
ReplyDeleteI've crossed paths a a few coyotes on runs! I don't worry so much about them as I worry about possibly encountering a mountain lion!!! A woman in my running group was running alone and encountered a mountain lion that proceded to run towards her... so scary!
ReplyDeleteFav post run indulgence... definitely a cupcake :)
