Like the rest of the northeast, I have been anticipating the snow. New Jersey is not supposed to get hit nearly as bad as New England, but still we should have 8 inches by tomorrow morning. All morning it was sleeting/freezing rain and pretty nasty. Just now it started laying and should continue through the night.

I'll just plan on hydrating A LOT next week before my big trip next weekend. Can I just say HOW EXCITED I am for:
1. A great Valentine's weekend in Austin with D. Even though I have no allegiance to really celebrate Valentine's Day, it is still fun that we have a great weekend planned.
2. Warm weather! Temps are supposed to be in the 60s to 70 next weekend.
3. Running 26.2! PR-ing! Running in shorts?
4. Eating absolutely everything in sight post-race. BBQ. Mexican. Beer. If it is in my way, I will eat it.

Officially snowbound here in Mass! They even banned driving after 4pm - whoa, legit.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little (ok, a lot) jealous of your trip to a warmer climate. So for now, will huddle by my pellet stove and pretend it's the hot sun :)
Have fun and kick some 26.2 butt!!!
I am so excited, too (if you can't tell) Who thought I would be so excited about Texas?!
DeleteWell, I am a little jealous that you are seriously snowbound. There is something really fun about being stuck in the snow!
I CAN tell :) Enjoy....nothing more crazy & exciting as the taper before the marathon!
DeleteYup, when I'm racing I will eat anything in sight post race as well :). And I love your version of hydration, hehe. Good luck braving the storm and be safe!
ReplyDeleteHehe. I actually meant if I drink that this weekend, then I will hydrate with water a lot for the rest of the week. But, hey, liquid is liquid, isn't it? Oh maybe not...
DeleteVery good plan!!! That food will taste SO good, too ;)
ReplyDeleteI am sure it will. Anything tastes great after a long run!
Deleteseriously, your next weekend sounds aaaaaaaaaaahhhmazin.
ReplyDeletewe had SO much snow last night. I haven't seen snow that much in years and years. It was insane. I really want to do some outside running but not sure that's possible!
Yessss to PR'in and running in shorts!!
a fun run in the snow is always enjoyable! And you work harder so don't even bother timing yourself :)
DeleteGreat weekend plans! I have 10 miles to run this morning, I need to venture outside and see if running outside is possible, or if I need to get to the gym! I understand about the excitement of warmer temps. and sunshine, I'm going to FL for work in just over a week, I can't wait! Enjoy your relaxing weekend :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck. Are you training for something? I should be running 8 miles myself but I will not put too much pressure on myself to get it done. And I figure after my weekends have consisted of 16-20 mile runs, 8 is a piece of cake in snow or at the gym :)
DeleteLOVE myself some Yellow Tail! :) Merlot or Shiraz (unless someone brings something else that's red and that's good, too).
ReplyDeletePlowing through loads of food after a 26.2 sounds like a plan to me! How many marathons have you run?
Yay for Yellow Tail! I love the Shiraz and the Cabernet/Shiraz mix.
DeleteThis will be my 5th marathon! But unlike my other 4 I actually have a goal for this one, so I am much more nervous (though, finishing and getting to see Austin is good enough).
Your blizzard preparations were similar to mine. My husband got groceries, pulled all the shovels out of the shed, checked flashlight batteries, and all I did was get a bottle of wine. Priorities!
ReplyDeleteI was supposed to do a 4-miler w/some hill sprints on Saturday, but that obviously didn't happen w/2.5 feet of snow. But hey, if you're going to have a blizzard, the taper is the best time for it.
The 60s and 70s? That sounds heavenly. I'm in MA and shoveling out today. Good luck with your marathon! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have the perfect plans to melt away this weekend's snow!
ReplyDeleteI have a half in 60-70 degree weather in two weeks! I wonder if training in cooler (ok colder) temps will slow us down or help add a little speed? I'm hoping for speed!
