There Goes the Ice Cream

Tapering for me = one less day of running a week.  My response?  I polished off two pints of gelato in the last 5 days or so.  I hardly ever have ice cream at home and especially not in the winter (it makes me cold!).

But last week, I felt the need to get some caramel gelato.  And when I got to the store, I encountered the choice of Sea Salt Caramel or Caramel Cookie Crunch.  How could I choose?

And now they are gone :(

Now, I am fine with ice cream and other treats in moderation.  I usually eat a well-balanced diet and I never feel guilty about splurging.  I also never weigh myself.  I cannot say for sure, but I am beginning to understand why people tend to gain weight during the taper.

And I am only sad that I have no more ice cream in the house!

  2. It's all part of training - you're practicing your carb loading. And your caramel loading.

    1. Agreed, I am obsessed with all things salted caramel!
I have the Austin Marathon in 10 days. After a winter of long, cold runs, I am running in sunny TX where temps are in the 70s! What an adventure it will be :)

  4. Both of those flavors sound seriously amazing. Like, amazing enough to get my butt away from the heater I'm huddled by and take a trip to the store. Salted caramel... mmmmmmm.........

    1. Yay! I have heard so much great stuff about the town that when the race was about the right time of year I wanted to run, I decided I HAD to do it. I am afraid I will be too distracted by the fun there to race well :)
